so is there a world i know too well
how good that is is happening under
the magnolia & the old moon up there
all the mountain lions have gone west
or died out but i don’t care i like
all the deer overcrowding the whole damn
place even the dead ones by the side
of the road their guts are pink children
who wash my feet the sun-maid raisin
girl spread out naked on my bed her red
bonnet & apron on the floor i’m worried
about these worlds i tell her in which
i imagine i live mountain lions & deer
& children i scream the children
